Light Day 25: Daniel 2:19-23
Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.
Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:
And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:
He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.
I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the king’s matter.
When we have an intimate relationship with God, we begin to understand not only the very heart of God Himself but also many “deep and secret things” that He delights to reveal to His close friends. He is thrilled to give us wisdom abundantly as we ask Him – Jesus Christ is the wisdom of God who is made to us wisdom.
There are some things we simply can’t know through human wisdom. The king’s dream in the book of Daniel is one example; speaking in earthly terms, no one can know another’s dream without being told. Because of Daniel’s close relationship with God, he sought God in faith for the secret and God revealed it to him.
If we are seeking God with all our heart, we can’t help but begin to receive increased wisdom – for “light dwelleth with him.” As we dwell with Him, we dwell in light that illumines the secret things.
Notice also Daniel’s response in these verses: praise and thanksgiving. Not only did he receive the wisdom of God, he received it with thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is a natural response of one who is living in the light.
Today, let your life overflow with praise to our God!
